[JOB SUMMARY]:
The Director is the key management leader of Madison Originals (MO). The Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization.
Key duties include: driving revenue, new membership, engaging membership, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
[GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES]
- Board Governance: Works with board in order to fulfill organization’s mission & vision
- Responsible for leading MO in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
- Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs/events, strategic planning, member engagement and community outreach.
- Responsible for implementation of MO’s programs inclusive of group gift cards sales, quarterly online sales, events, education, etc.
- Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that MO can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
- Responsible for new restaurant recruitment and current membership support.
- Responsible for the enhancement of MO’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with the foodie community.
- Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
- Responsible for creating revenues necessary to support MO’s mission, inclusive of quarterly gift certificate sales, events and new revenue streams
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of MO, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and marketing budget
- Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
- Organization Marketing & Brand Awareness: Develops and implements marketing strategies to promote our independent restaurants and elevate the MO brand locally.
- Responsible for creating and implementing a robust marketing plan inclusive of digital and traditional channels.
- Responsible for providing individual support to each of our members through marketing efforts such as email communication and social media support.
[JOB DUTIES]:
- Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, revenue/fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization
- Collaborate with organization membership and community partners
- Strategic planning and implementation
- Planning and operation of annual budget
- Create and execute email marketing campaigns both internally and customer-facing
- Maintain marketing and social media calendar
- Maintain recruitment calendar for both restaurant and associate member perspectives
- Author blog posts and make website updates as necessary
- Make weekly visits to restaurants to capture photos/stories for digital content
- Serve as MO’s primary spokesperson
- Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance MO’s mission
- Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues
- Oversee organization Board and committee meetings
- Oversee quarterly Member meetings
- Establishing administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit
- Review and approve contracts for services
- Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
Professional Qualifications Desired:
- A passion and excitement for independent restaurants and the Madison-area food community
- Transparent and high integrity leadership
- 2-3+ years of management experience
- Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors
- High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, and membership.
- Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community
- A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results
- Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong public speaking ability.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
- Working knowledge or desire to learn the following platforms and applications: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, MailChimp, Canva (for basic graphics), Google Applications/G Suite and QuickBooks Online.
[COMPENSATION]:
- 20-30 hours per week
- $20 per hour (negotiable based on experience)
- Bonus structure opportunity post-COVID
- $50 per month expense stipend
- 1 week PTO
